Choosing a Canister Vacuum Cleaner

When you are looking for a canister vacuum cleaner, you will need to consider a few things. For starters, what floors do you intend to clean, and how much horsepower might it take? Most canister vacuum cleaners offer these 3 choices:
    1.    A 10" – 12" wide hard plastic brush with soft bristles.
    2.    A spinning drum roller brush with harder bristles called the Turbo Brush.
    3.    A power head brush that resembles the turbo brush, except it has a separate powered motor.

The turbo brush and the power head brush vacuums both utilize a revolving drum roller with bristles that look like that from an upright vacuum cleaner. While the smaller motor that spins the brush on the power head brush looks similar to the one on the turbo brush, the power head provides its own additional and aggressive airflow, whereas the turbo one is simply powered by the canister vac alone.

These brushes will snap the dirt out of the carpet by sucking air thru it. Of course if it's airtight somehow, you won't have any luck as the suction won't reach down in where it counts.

In your purchase a turbo or power head vacuum cleaner primarily for carpet surfaces, you'll also get a brush for bare floors.

Some choices for vacuum cleaners to choose are as follows:
    1.  The best choices for bare floor canister vacuum cleaners are the Eureka Oxygen 6992 and the Miele Solaris Canister. These units are perfect for bare floors devoid of any carpet or rugs.
    2.  The best choices for canister vacuum cleaners are the EIO family vacuum cleaner, the Miele Solaris, and the Sebo Turbo canister vacuum cleaner, where there are scatter rugs and low nap wall to wall carpeting.
    3.  The best choices for canister vacuum cleaners are the Sebo Canister 3.1, the Miele Silver Moon, and the Eureka Oxygen 6996 when you need to vacuum wall to wall carpeting, especially if you have to deal with lots of pet hair.

When purchasing, it will be wise to think about what future needs you might have as well, this way your purchase may still be useful then when the need changes. You may spend slightly more up front, but then you only need to spend it once. Look for quality that you feel is worth your money. As that will also be the difference between a short-term investment and a long-term one.

Nearly every canister vacuums are about the same in size, cleaning surface, and come with the same attachments.
