Bathroom Remodeling

There never seems to be an end to the amount of renovating you could do to your house.  Remodeling your  bathroom can be a huge task and the amount of disruption this can cause in a household can be quite significant. The reason for this is that once the project begins this room may be out of use for a period of time. If you are thinking of remodeling your bathroom make sure you draw up a schedule for the use of the bathroom for family members. Also, bear in mind that during this time you may not want to invite guests to stay over.

There are a few important issues to consider before you take on a major project like this.  For example, ensure you work to a budget and timetable so that this does not become a prolonged expensive disruption to your home.  Bath remodeling does not have to break your budget, but you do have to consider many aspects.  The bath is often the smallest room of your home, but it involves so many items.  When you begin the bath remodeling project decide which fixtures you will be putting back into the space and which you will need to replace.  The main fixtures involved in bath remodeling include the tub, shower, toilet, sink, cabinets, lighting and flooring. Also take into account any changes to be made to the plumbing system, these can also become quite expensive.    When looking at the different types of sinks etc, don't forget to take into account the storage space you have.  Although you might like the look of a pedestal sink, they do not provide adequate storage. Having good storage is essential for a well functioning bathroom. Another popular trend in bathroom  remodeling is having a spa installed.  These can work out to be very expensive to install, take up a great deal of space and are repairs and maintenance can also be expensive.  One aspect of bath remodeling that is often overlooked is lighting.  In deciding what type of lighting you will be using consider if you have a source of natural light in the bathroom.  If you have do, try and get lighting that will compliment the natural light as much as possible and still provide privacy.  If you do not have a natural light source try to create one through the lighting you choose or as an alternative you could consider installing a skylight in the ceiling.  Flooring is also a main consideration when remodeling your bathroom. Natural stone or ceramic tiles are two of the easiest surfaces to keep clean if your can afford them. They do cost more than other materials, but will last for the life of your bathroom.   Finally, keeping the bathroom area clean and healthy for all the family is also a top priority when remodeling.  Easy access to surfaces and ease of cleaning is a must in our busy lifestyles and this should be taken into account in the planning stages. Bath remodeling may be a daunting thought but with careful planning and budgeting you can have the bathroom you've always wanted.
